Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 October 2026
This policy applies to version 0.1.0 of Fahm — Understand the Quran for Android and iOS (app identifier com.usmanbuttar.fahm), provided by Muhammad Usman Buttar and Malik Faisal Awan. It describes the mobile app, including its test releases. The separate signed-in web course preview is outside this policy's scope.
Information stored on your device
Fahm stores lesson progress, practice answers, review schedules, preferences, translation drafts, and notebook entries in the app's private device storage to provide learning activities and remember your work. These records are not automatically transmitted to us. Course pages and fonts are included with the app.
The current app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, health records, or financial information, and does not collect advertising identifiers. No in-app purchases or subscriptions are included.
Backups and sharing you choose
If you select the backup export option, Fahm creates a file containing your learning records and opens your device's sharing options. The app or service you choose receives that file and handles it under its own privacy practices. Exported files may include personal information you typed into notes. Fahm does not automatically send backups to the developers, sell your information, or share it for advertising.
Support messages
If you email us, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request and resolve app issues. Our email provider processes this correspondence to deliver and store it. Please avoid sending passwords, signing keys, or unnecessary sensitive information.
Retention and deletion
Learning records remain on your device until you erase them, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Use Erase device progress in the app to delete its saved learning records. This does not delete backup files you previously exported; remove those separately from the destinations you selected. There is no Fahm account to delete, and we cannot remotely read or erase your local learning records.
Support correspondence is retained only as needed to handle your request, related follow-up, and applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing the contact below.
Device and platform services
Android automatic app-data backup is disabled in this version. On iOS, device backups may include app data depending on your Apple backup settings. Apple and Google may process installation, testing, or diagnostic information through their own platform services under their policies and your settings. This is separate from Fahm's local learning-record storage.
Security
Learning records use the operating system's app storage protections. Exported backup files are readable JSON and are not password-encrypted by Fahm. Store them in a location you trust. No storage or transfer method is guaranteed completely secure.
Children's privacy
The same local-storage design applies to all users. The app has no registration, advertising, or automatic collection of children's personal information. Parents or guardians can use the device controls to erase learning records and can contact us about information sent in a support message.
This policy webpage
This page contains no analytics scripts, advertising, or contact form. Its hosting provider may process ordinary connection information, such as IP address and browser request details, to serve and protect the webpage. Reading this page does not send your app's learning records to it.
Changes
We will update this policy and its effective date when the app's privacy practices change. Features such as accounts or cloud synchronisation would require an updated disclosure before they are introduced.
